The Ledger

I published the rules behind every decision here before I knew how any of it would turn out.

Only one account, shown as an index from 100. No dollar balances: contributions are reported as a share of income, so the record shows the discipline rather than the net worth. Entries are never edited or deleted, including the months I got it wrong.

No entries yet. November 2026 gets the first entry, posted after the month closes.

Largest fall from a peak

The furthest each index has fallen below an earlier high, checked at the end of each month.

Nothing to measure until the record starts in November 2026.

The Breach Count

Every breach of the written rules: a chosen action, or deliberate inaction they didn't call for. Never reset and never edited, including breaches that worked out favorably.

The monthly record

Each month names the principle that got tested and whether it held. A broken principle stays on the page, marked in red, and the Breach Count never resets. The VT column is shown even when it's ahead.

Look for November 2026 first. Once November's over, it'll go up here.

Factor loadings

Each quarter, the Core's monthly returns since the record started are measured against the five factors Kenneth French publishes for developed markets (the US is one of them), and so are VT's. The screen aims for positive value, profitability, and investment loadings. A long-only portfolio captures only part of each factor, so loadings well under 1 are normal. Value and investment overlap, so the investment loading can sit near zero even when the holdings lean that way.

The first factor loadings will be published after the quarter that ends in June 2027. The measurement needs at least seven months of returns, and each month's factor data comes out a month or two after it ends.

Holdings

Published one month late, so no one can act on it before I have. Weights are shares of the Core's stock holdings. A name outside the top 15 is still held, and gets money only when a cap sends money down the list.

You'll see the first holdings (as of November 30, 2026) when the December 2026 entry goes up.

How this is calculated

  • Day one is November 1, 2026, and the index starts there at 100.
  • Returns are time-weighted, so deposits and withdrawals never move the index.
  • I leave the VT line on the chart even when it's ahead of me.
  • The Breach Count is every breach of the written rules. It never resets.

Published one month later

  • Every holding, with its weight.
  • The screen's full ranked list.
  • Sector exposure against its cap.

Never published

  • Account balances, net worth, or income in dollars.
  • The broker, or any account identifiers.
  • Anything in real time. There's no signals group and there never will be.
